I've put the trash wip to the side for the moment. I'm planning on doing this image with my students on the Alaskan cruise I'm doing next month with Ann Kullberg and Anne De Mille Flood. Oh my did I say next month!
We will be working from photographs aboard the cruise as our resources will be limited and there will be up to 30 students. I put together this still-life for the cruise because I wanted something that went with what I have been doing and the brightly colored fruit against a neutral background fit the bill. I backlit the canteloupe using just my window light completely inspired by Cecile Baird's work. The soft folds on the fabric as well as the ambient lighting on it creates a nice contrast without too many elements to learn in a short amount of time with the students.

I went to the dump last week and took loads of photos. The metal pile proved to be the most promising but since they have a policy of not allowing people to pick from the metal pile I had to deal with getting questioned from one of the men working there. I don't think he quite understood why I was taking photos of the trash.
