Small Classic Still-life

This is a small (8" x 10") still-life that can't get much more classic or simple. Obviously I'm not finished yet. I'm tempted to sit down and finish right now but I've got to do a demo tonight at Creative Encounters in downtown Keene and I need something to be working on. So if you're around tonight and would like to stop by and see me - come bearing coffee!

Beth asked to know more about the Art Supply Rummage Sale I did. It was actually my friend Luann Udell's idea, which she has done before. Its just as the name implies. We got together all our art supplies left over from old projects or when we thought we just might like another medium etc and did an old fashioned rummage sale. I was lucky because our downtown was having a sidewalk sale/ block party and the art school I teach at was giving out information for upcoming classes. So, I just had it at the same time and shared their tables which meant I didn't have to advertise it as there were instant people walking by. If you're not so lucky, you'll have to pay for an ad or two in your local newspaper and spread the word to other artists through emails and word of mouth.

Peaches

So sorry for the absence again. I have no good excuses really. I spent the time reading all the Harry Potter books and continuing on decluttering and repainting the inside of my house. This time it was the kitchen cabinets - a truly thankless job. I also had an art supply rummage sale with the school I teach at. That went so well I would highly recommend one!

I finally have returned though. I wanted to do some of these flowers as I had nipped them from my neighbor's bush and I knew they wouldn't last too long. Out went the panoramic composition though to be able to have the height for the flowers. This is 11 x 14."

Tall Red Still-life with Mercury Glass

& here it is finished... showing up a bit more orangey than in real life due to artificial lighting.

The pedastal holding the fruit is mercury glass and I don't like how it looks "almost" like metal so I don't think I'll use it in a still-life again. I mean will the viewer realize it is mercury glass - probably not!

Tall Red Still-life

well this is the new one I'm wrking on and it could REALLY end up in disaster! First off the dish is mercury glass and is proving very hard to capture correctlty. Then there's the overall composition. You can't see it very well but it will have a red on red cloth coming down through most of it. I'm just not sure how well that will work unitl I do it. If it works then I will be doing more "tall" ones like this. If not... well.....

I'm Back!

Whew! We had fun on vacation... two county fairs, a trip downtown in Chicago to Millenium Park and Navy Pier, two water parks, and loads of fishing, lounging and campfires on the Kankakee River behind my mother's house. Yes I did no artwork.

I did just start right to work as I have to replace some pieces that sold while I was away. I haven't gone through my messages yet or paid the bills but I've finished a piece!
