& here it is finished... showing up a bit more orangey than in real life due to artificial lighting.
The pedastal holding the fruit is mercury glass and I don't like how it looks "almost" like metal so I don't think I'll use it in a still-life again. I mean will the viewer realize it is mercury glass - probably not!
I think to see it in it's original form may show the glass better. I do love the composition though! great work.
ReplyDeleteShow detail sometime please. It is difficult to understand your pencil work from the small images.
ReplyDeleteI think it worked!! I really like the end result.
ReplyDeleteit looks beautiful nicole, with the mercury glass i think it looks like that on the right side of the pedestal whereas on the left side of the grapes (where the highlight is) is where its letting you down. I think its because on the right you have a high contrast of the really dark shadows and they are really sharp whereas on the right they are lighter and softer, its almost like its two different surfaces.
ReplyDeleteThats just my thoughts, but i think you have done a fabulous job .. i love the comp :)
Love the composition! I think the vase looks like glass in some parts, and metal in others... but my overall impression is that of thick glass.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Nicole. The mercury glass doesn't bother me because I don't even know what it is. What you've drawn looks gorgeous, that's all that matters. To me, anyway.
