What a weekend that was!
I had an outdoor fair here in ton - Art in the Park - and I won 1st place in my division.

At the Colored Pencil regional show in Rhode Island on Sunday my piece won the Prismacolor award.

Just finished this one today. I set up a still-life mimicking the Dutch master Pieter Claesz and then added a contemporary twist of literally rotating the view and cropping in to a long skinny format.
This will be going to the Monadnock Fine Art Gallery later this week if you are interested in it.

  4. I love the energy created by the angle and shape of this composition. It's like a snatch of a view through a partially open door as one happened to be walking by. Just wonderful!

All the highlights on the silver and glass make me wonder if you use anything besides Prismacolors to achieve that crispness. I'm challenged by the pastelboard in that regard.

Congratulations on your well-deserved awards! One of these days I will make it to one of your shows or exhibits!

  8. Wow thanks everyone!

Liz - I've been using coloursofts more and more, and still prismas. The edges aren't super sharp - but with the little larger than life-size - it doesn't really need to be.

Mike! pft! I got it finished while Lizzy was at school. No excuses from me for your going out habits!
