portrait of a princess

I don't have any immediate deadlines... so I did something for me! This is a 5" x 7" on Pastelbord little portrait of my 4 (and a half) year old daughter. Now that I have it up, I see a couple of things to help the likeness abit... but its basically finished. I may repost after the little changes.

I like the idea of a close cropped portrait. This is just lovely... and you're inspiring me. (Just so you know, you've inspired me many times, and I thank you!)

Your daughter looks very proud(and adorable), and rightly so.I'm very interested in how you achieved the skin tones. They look so soft. Did you layer and layer the colors or just get the closest match? This is one to be really pleased about, Nicole. It's beautiful. Deb Ross

Kasie and Holly!

That's great Liz! I get inspired by art online all the time- its amazing how much art we can see in a given day online!

Thanks Deb! Well I basically did her lit side of the face allll in peach and then added ivory, white, that pinkish grey color, fuschia, & pink on it. And just kept on layering either those colors or more of the base color. & I did the dark side of the face allll in a rusty color and then put colors on top of it like orange, fuschia, a really dark red. And just kept on layering either those colors or more of the base color. This picture was all about contrast on the two sides of the face, but on each side, light for instance, had very little contrast to define it. Does that make sense?
