A lovely start, how long has it taken you to get this far and do you completely fill the grain of the board? The white looks as though you have a heavy layer.
Pauline I never really get rid of the grain... its just so big on Pastelbord. When I work on Fisher 400 its no problem, but on Pastelbord it stays. How long? This first step was maybe 3 hours work.
I just started another 8x10 still-life. I'm using Coloursofts and Luminance pencils on grey Pastelbord.

Great job so far... It looks as if you were 'erasing' the gray that is covering the image, doesn't it look like 'magic'? I love that...
